[抄錄] How Does the (Harald Szeemann's) Archive Function?

背景:Harald Szeemann的檔案工廠有8個房間,作者為了說明,分別替他們命名,並敘述他們個別的作用與功能。

1. Office: In the Office is a computer,  and documentation on exhibition venues.

2. Work in Progress Room: The Work in Progress Room was the name used by Harald Szeemann for the space where most activity took place. It contains mainly letters and invitations. It also houses a collection of videos, a television, and a worktable over six meters long.

3. Monograph Room: is where books on artists are kept.

4. Groundwork Room: contains catalogues of collections and documentation about Monte Verita.

5. Magazine Room: where art magazines are kept.

6. Ritter Saal (Knight's Room): named by Szeemann because of its exposed beams, which give it a medieval feel. It contains theoretical works, photographic archives, and shelves exclusively for documentation on Joseph Beuys and Marcel Duchamp. Szeemann called these accumulations the "Beuys Island" and the "Duchamp Island".

7. Literature Room: contains works of literature.

8. Fax Room: has mainly documents about Szeemann's projects and the eponymous faxes.
